The Legal Unit serves as the Fire Department’s primary liaison to the City Attorney’s Office for all criminal filings. Its core responsibilities include enforcing the Los ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ City Fire Code to ensure that all buildings within the City of Los ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ meet fire and life safety standards.
When a property is found to be noncompliant, the Legal Unit prepares criminal cases involving residential or commercial properties, including those related to illegal cannabis operations.
