The Legal Unit is the sole liaison of the Fire Department to the City Attorney’s office involving Criminal filings. This Units primary duties include, enforcing the Los ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ City Fire Code to ensure that the all the buildings within the jurisdiction of City of Los Angels are free from fire and life safety violations. When a property does become noncompliant with fire and life safety, the Legal Unit will prepare a Criminal case that may involve either residential, commercial or illegal Cannabis.
