Hydrants and Access

Overview

The Hydrants and Access Unit reviews hydrant placement and access to all sites and structures. The Fire Department evaluates access via existing and proposed public and private streets and fire lanes for adequate width, turn-arounds and turning radii, grade access points, parking restrictions, overhead clearances, load capacity, and secured entrances to improve response times.

2025 Wildfire Rebuild Projects

Requests for plan reviews concerning 2025 wildfire rebuild projects are required to be submitted through the . Please use the links below to access detailed application instructions to assist with the submittal process. In-person plan reviews are not currently being provided and no appointments are necessary to have plans reviewed once submitted through the FIMS Portal. All accepted wildfire rebuild applications in FIMS will be promptly assigned to an Inspector for review with an anticipated response time of 5–10 business days. LAFD staff is also available at the Palisades Inspections and Permitting Support Center to answer any additional questions regarding Hydrants and Access review.
