Aircraft Emergency at Whiteman Airport
Pacoima - At 0911 hours on June 16, 2026, LAFD was notified that a small airplane went down at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima, prompting an emergency response that resulted in the successful extrication and medical assessment of the pilot. The sole occupant of the aircraft, a 77-year-old male, initially declined medical transport but later decided to head to a local hospital for further evaluation of his minor injuries.
The Incident Commander, Battalion Chief Scott Hilton, confirmed there was no active fire at the scene. While approximately five gallons of fuel leaked from the aircraft, officials reported that the spill was contained. No injuries were reported among airport staff, bystanders, or members of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½.
Whiteman Airport personnel are currently overseeing the cleanup of the wreckage and the fuel spill. Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified of the incident, and the FAA is expected to lead the investigation.
